Hi, my name is Jason Voss. I was born and raised on the west side of Cincinnati, Ohio on a horse farm. I've always spent most of my time outside and that is where I feel most comfortable and alive. In 2014 I decided to hike the Appalachian trail because I needed a new challenging outdoor adventure in my life. So I hiked all 2,200 miles from Georgia to Maine. This was my first time away from home and being totally on my own for 5 months on the trail. The first few days were very challenging physically and mentally. I constantly second guessed myself and if I were following the right path. After a while I gained my confidence and the hike became one of the most rewarding things I've ever done. It changed my perspective on life.
After the hike I went back to working in construction until 2017, when I had a life threatening motorcycle accident. After a hard recovery I decided I needed another challenge that put me in my favorite place- the outdoors. So I went for another walk. This time out west to the Pacific Crest Trail which is 2,800 miles. I found real mountains with non-stop breathtaking views all day everyday for 6 months. I proved to myself anything can be overcome, mentally and physically, with the right attitude, clear goals and nature. You take one day at a time and don't overwhelm yourself with the magnitude of the greater challenge.
Then finally this year, 2021, I will be starting to finish the Continental Divide Trail, which is 3,000 miles starting at the border of Mexico and New Mexico, through Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho and finishing at the border of Montana and Canada. If I complete this hike I will be one of the few Triple Crown Hikers who have completed all three major long distance U.S. hikes.
The outdoors has changed my life in so many wonderful ways. Join me in supporting equity in the outdoors, and help more city kids live physically and mentally healthier lives.
Through Adventure Crew, city teens develop the courageous spirit to step out of their comfort zone and discover new worlds — outside in nature, and inside themselves. This deep connection to nature will change the course of their lives, no matter what environment they’re in.
Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for Adventure Crew
